I have an 88LT 500 that is ported, bored .40 over and a host of other things, however, I fear that the low end needs to be rebuilt. I want to go with a new jug and porting, (I really wasn't impressed with the job I got) true the crank, and cut the head to up the compression. I also wanna go with a bigger carb.
I was thinking LRD; since I already have their mid-range pipe and its awesome. Has anyone ever had an LT done by them...or anyone else reccommended?

I had LRD do a complete engine for me about 4 years ago and it has worked flawlessly. The also modify the stock carb and from what i've seen it does as well as any of the aftermarket carbs out there. My LT is about as fast as I dare to go and has proved to be very dependable.

Good luck and hold on tight when you get your motor back!!!!

You can shot around on the web sites for different prices, CT I think charges $175 for split cases inspect and reassemble. Look at some needed repairs for quadzillas at mrdunes site. Are your crank bushings bad? Mine are origional and still fine!

We visited Trinity in LA last year while on vacation, they really where impressive, especially if you can get talking with Harry McDermot (the owner), they gave us a guided tour of there machine shop and showed us all the different cylinder and case mods and stroker cranks, trick machine work etc etc they do, they know there stuff, check em out

When I rebuild my LT250 engine thats where it's gonna get it's work over for sure.

there was an article in ATV sport December 98 on there stage two performance package for the 500, the result was pretty impressive.

I really wish ATV action, or dirt wheels would include the quadracer family into one of there shootouts. How about something like LT500R, can the DS650 take the crown?

They used the original cylinder but they did quite a bit of work to it including O'ringing the head and some extensive porting.

killazlla,
I Just had CT build my motor and so far it has been outstanding. With the motor I got and the other mods I have mine runs over 100mph. They do charge 175 for spliting the cases, but it is well worth it, Trinty has some great solutions for common 500 problems like head studs, and vibration, but I didn't care for their head mod or their porting, My CT motor out pulls the one trinty did for me a few years ago. If you go with CT make sure you tell them exactly what you want and tell them that it is a must that they call you with an evuation of your motor before they start to repair it. Hope this helps
