Default Forward Chain Guard

A friend told me i should remove the front chain guard. He said that when the chain breaks the guard holds the chain and it can bind up in there and crack the case. Anyone heard of this? If i remove it won't it crack my leg instead of the case?

Thanks,
Rafiki

Default Forward Chain Guard

As far as I know the chain gaurd is supposed to keep the chain from cracking the case. I popped the chain off of my 250r and it cracked the case cause I didn't have the guard on.
