my buddy is gettin a quad soon, can't spend a ton, limited to 3500-4000..he found a used 87 lt250r for $1900 modded and looks great and a used 03 400ex for $3250 with some mods, good as well..he will be ridin with my and my friends on like lots of trails and some freestyle..i told him to get a 400ex but he wants to know what EVERYONE else thinks..thanx

My guess would be for the $3250 he spends on the EX, he could have one HELL of an LT for the same amount of money if he put the savings from buying the LT into more mods and upgrades. Just my .02

 

If you're serious about jumping, the LT is 40 to 50 pounds lighter. However, the stock suspension on the LT may not cut it.

 

He couldn't go wrong with a 400EX. Just gas and go! I don't know too much about an LT250R except for they're a fast 2 stroke. Besides the price difference between the two he should also consider the age difference aswell. Does he like working on quads?

 

well..he doesnt have a quad but when he gets one im sure he'll fuss with it..he worx on bmx bikes and dirtbikes tho..

 

The Lt is a lot less money, and it will tear a 400ex a new a**hole. If you want to race or just to be able to ride with banshees and trx's then go Lt. Honda makes a really nice bike, very strong very reliable but it's not that fast.
