The motor is brand new and I dident pinch pennys anywhere and from the few drags ive done I was only beat by one bike and it was a 250r with a 370 motor in it and he was about 4 feet in front of me. The only thing I was doing in this post was agreeing with you and trying to give an example. Hopefully come this race season I can prove that the z can be as if not more competive then the yfz not that I dont like the yfz just I perfer the z more Its just my openion people who ride the yfzs also have a great bike so lets just all ride/ race and have a great time doing it. It all does come down to rider and the better rider will always win unless maybe in a drag race when power is the most important factor.
So how much money did it take to bring the Z even with the YFZ??? I mean it's not to fair compairing a heavy modded z against piped and jetted YFZ. I own both and you'll dump some serious coin in the z to keep up to a piped and jetted YFZ. Specialy if you need to go around corners.... Can be done no doubt... $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ If your a few feet form a 370R i'd say quite a bit....

I work at a dealership where I get all my parts at cost and got the fcr 41mm carb from a friend even though it was new and I have about 1500 into the motor the machine work to the head and the cylender were also a savings from someone that I deal with at the dealership and gave me a great deal and did work that came out awesome. I am trully pleased with the work and the motor now. It probally would have cost the average consumer alot of money if I had to take a stab about 2500-3200 for the parts labor and machining. I guess it depends on the kit your go with or the parts you choose to use as I bought one of these and one of those and so on and so on. yes It cost alot very true but id be spending this kind of money on whatever I have so I can have the most edge to get the most of my bike. I just like the ergonimics of the ltz400 over the yfz and to me that it what makes the most sence when I race If I cant be comforadable throwing the machine around then im not going to go as fast as I wish I could and handeling and riding ability is what wins racing. If I dident have the z id pick the 450r the ergonimics are simmular to the z, and yet the yfz still in stock for has the strongest motor. But as said over and over motor doesent win the race the rider does. I like the yfz but I can ride it Just not for me.

Sounds like you have an awesome Z!!! I love ours. Probably the best "all around" balanced bike.

What do you mean comparing a yzf to a 2-stroke.....they only 2-stroke in its leage would be a blaster... yea if a 2-stroke isn't tuned right you might have to wind it up a little but like mine if the throttle is turned G-force is activated.....can't wait till this summer when everyone heads to flat river I am going to hunt down one of those candied yam's and feed it a SANDwich.........later y'all....Team green rules all
