there used to be a really weird "bump steer kit" back in the 80s people put on LT250Rs and Tecate 4s... They're no longer popular nowadays probably for good reason. from what I've read, they had a lot of added componentry.

Bumpsteer is caused when the tie rods and A-arms have different plans on what to do over a bump or any kind of compression event.

measure your top and bottom A-arm's length, measure your tie rod's length. Make/modify your tie rods/steering arm so your tie rods are about the same length and angle as the A-arms, set the toe-in to about 1/8" to start out, and change it as you see fit to aid handling/bump steer.

wow thats cool justinjones were did you learn that trick, so you modify you steering stem so your tie rods are the same length as you a arms.

1) Use a steering stabilizer. That should be your cheapest and easiest solution. The stabilizer does not solve the problem since the front end geometry/relationship will still be wrong but some of the negative effects will be lessened.

2) Polaris had a good explanation of bump steer in the ATV mags when their Predator first came out (The Predator is said to have "zero bump steer"). They explained why some quads were better than others in this regard. Many modern OEM and aftermarket frames are VERY narrow in the front in order to keep the A-arms and tie-rods in line with each other.

3) Make sure you never mention that the LT500R has terrible bump steer compared to other quads. The last time I did that I got my head bit off by a group of posters with no idea what the term even meant. For some people, talking down on the big LT is like insulting their mother. I own one but I’m not blind to its shortfalls!
