Well not yet but iwant it to. My brother just got a brand new twin peaks a week ago and it beats me in every drag race we've done like i knew it would but i still dont like it. I kill him on the trails but in a straight line hes just got way more motor. I want to beat him, anyone have any ideas. Im going to order the hmf slip-on, k+n filter and jet kit. Think that will be enough to take a p700? I want to keep it to bolt on stuff because i bought the extended waranty and have to be able to put all the factory stuff back on before i have to take it in for repairs. Any body ever beat a p700 with a vinson in a straight drag race if you did what were you runing?

 

Its not likely to help you enough to make up for a 200 cc shortage, and a v-twin has lot more low end than a single. I have been outrunning piped vinsons with my p650 every time I have had the chance to race one at the dunes.

 

How far do you dragrace? If you race a short race, here is what I would do. Go down one tooth on the front sprocket. Your quad will be way quicker that way, and you will be gearing for "your" distance, not his. Go to where you usually race and race alone. Make a mental note where your quad tops out in high gear (on the road, trail, ect.) That way you can tell your buddy, "we will race over to that tree, rock or whatever". The trick is to get your quads gearing worked out so that when it tops out the race is over.
One other thing. Heavy quads (usually big displacement) don't like short races. It takes time to get the mass moving, so make the race as short as your buddy will agree too. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]
You can also start taking parts off to get lighter, but that would be extreem just to beat your brother if you ask me.

Race alone and see where your quad tops out. Like I said, "usually" the smaller the engine, the shorter the race you want.

The small versus big theory wont work here cause they both weigh the same.

Face it, you cant beat him in a drag so go out in the woods and race there. If yer any kind of rider you should beat him.

 

ive been on this site for a few weeks now, not many, and i have yet to understand most people on here. You want to beat a P700? Then why didnt you go out in the beginning and buy the fastest ATV you could get. A sport quad of some kind. Why is anyone concerned with out running someone else when they are on a Ute. Why do you buy a Utility if all you want to acomplish is out drag racing someone. If one day im sitting around with some friends and i say , or one of my friends says, " Hey lets race our Utility 4x4 atvs" Then they and or i will say OK. So we do it just for fun and when we are done WE DONT CARE WHO WAS THE FASTEST. We get on our atvs and go riding. Go trade youre vinson for a P700 or get you a new Yami or honda 450 Sport quad. Or you could take out the front 4x4 drive unit and loose a good bit of weight, put on some performance parts , bore it out to a 550 or just add another head altogether ,add some Nos and allot more stuff ($) and youll be ready to roll. Sorry if i sound really rude or sarcastice but i just dont get it.

Not everybody can afford to go out and get the bestest machine every year. They have to try to keep up their present machine. Since you dont care who wins a race and all your buddies say they dont care if you win any races I would have to guess you havent won very many.

Now go back where you were and let the people who want to exchange INFORMATION and help each other out, do so.

 

alright chill eiger2 its alright. Zex I bought the vinson because that is what i wanted, i could have bought any machine on the market, but i wanted the manual transmision and i wanted a suzuki. I also liked it because it is the best handeling utility on the market. As far as why i would want to race a utility, I want to race everything. As far as im conserned if you two of anything in one place you are going to have a race. I dont care if its mopeds or even lawnmowers for that mater its just fun to race and even more fun to win . I know i can beat him in the woods, mud, around my track and anywhere else but i was just interested to see if anyone had ever beat a p700 in a vinson, and to see what they where running. I was expecting to hear from v581 and hopping he had some positive news for me.
