God i hope not, OK here it is , it starts runs good, warms up and its a loss of power, back fires like no ones business, if choke is put on it gets better but doesnt cure it, i am told it could be the cdi box and at 339.99 for it i hope to god its not, cuae then its not getting new tires this year. i was asked if i had it in alot of water, no i wasnt in water i was in snow this winter, this really make me mad, cause its got less then 1000 miles on it, its a 03 with 880 mile on it has anyone had this problem before, my cousin who works for a polaris dealership is doing the work for me for free, he has riding the eiger and likes it too. i love this wheeler and plan on having it for a long time how ever i have a bad feeling about this, i have put a wench on, and a set of fogs on it. what could this be?

Before you go too far, check the carb. Same symptons that I had when there was crap in the bowl (and main jet). Happened to me with around 800 miles too. Cleaned the carb about 3 times, put an inline fuel filter on, checked the vent hose for kinks, and no problems since!

This is why an in line fuel filter is so important on this machine!!!!!!!
Now you need to clean out yer carb. While yer in there you should go ahead and check yer valves if you haven't already.

Ya got er choked when shes cold? After the choke is off she has no top end? Backfiring into the airbox? The main jet is prolly clogged a little. It takes half an hour to take the plastics off and remove the tank, 2 screws, 2 bolts, and a bunch of pop out rivets, pop off the gas and vacuum line and pull out the tank, loosen 2 screws on carb boots, twist the carb and remove 4 screws from bowl, remove the main jet (the middle one) clean it out, clean out the bowl, put it all back togethjer the opposite way.
This is way cheaper than a CDI and can be done in an hour if you stop to drink a beer or 2!
If youd like you can look at the wires leading in to the CDI to be sure none are broke. This would act like a rev limiter

Mine only has 100 mile on it and it was doing the same thing. Since the dealer did the 100 mile maintenace on it I made them look at it agian. They said that the vacum and vent lines were kinked, the pilot screw was set at 2.5 turns instead of 1.5 and that there was some junk in the carb. Have not ran it yet though.

The hose being kinked and the crap in the carb seems to be an ongoing saga with the Eiger. Seems like everyone has had these problems, or on of them. You would hope that these things, coming straight from the manufacturing floor would be in a little better shape. It is truely the only complaint I have about the Eiger.

Frozen north, Welcome to the forum. The junk in the carb is so common. Hoses may have been kinked too. But did he drill out yer pilot screw? it has a cap from the factory that needs to come out. I'll be doing mine when I can get back in the barn.

Took the ATV out for a run today. Evidently they fixed the problem. Ran just great, idled, did not backfire and had more power than before. Thanks for the info on the pilot screw cap. Did not do anything with it yet gonna wait and see. I had already put the fuel filter in thanks to this message board so maybe things are gonna go ok. Eiger 2 what kind of lights did you place on the front of your quad? How did you wire them?
