Default thumb throttle, 2 wires in it?

well i was fiddling with my thumb throttle and i saw a yellow wire with red stripe.. and a solid grey wire.. i was wondering if any one knows what these wires are for? and are they supposed to be there. it looks to me like it is.. when i hook a voltmeter up to them i dont see any current going thew them.. the brake light dosent work.. and no headlight but when i hook the VM up to there still no current runs great though.

any ideas? it is a 86 250R Quadracer

Thanks

I already PM you, but for the enlightenment of others I will reply.
The 2 wires running to the On/Off switch can be just spliced together, however then your lights will be on all the time. If you do like I did and only run lights off the high beam wires, then the low beam setting can be used as the Off switch.
