What 250 is it? If it is a LT250R it will smoke your tb. 2000 sounds like a little to much though, try to talk him down to about 1700 depending on the year. The 87-92 were the best models because they had a powervalve and a six speed tranny.

They should do around 70 mph maybe more depending on how its geared, dont know, it does pretty good in the woods, and there isnt anything to compare it to because there arent any 250 2-strokes these days, but it should beat a 400ex.

87+ will definately beat a 400ex and a 85/86 will with a few mods.

If it's like mine it will play with the big boys for a bunch less money. It will destroy any 400, and even Raptors and Banshees as long as there stock. I would be careful if the frame is bent. If it's in good shape and you don't mind working on it a little, get it!
Good Luck

Where and how bad is the frame bent? I'd pay bottom dollar for anything with a bent/modified frame.

I agree, if it has a bent frame it is worth ALOT less. Speaking from experience, swapping a frame is a ton of work.
