Default Chain Broken

Pro Design Case Saver Guard

Anyone ever buy one? My friend keeps telling me that i should buy one because if the chain breaks then it could bind up in there and crack the case. Anyone else ever hear of this?

Reference Ebay item number 2467441819

Its true, and a small investment in one can save you a lot of headache and $$$ later.

Some of the stock set ups do use a guard but many times its not wide enough and the chain can still catch the case.

Another thing that helps is to maintain your chain and replace it when needed.

Yep, the chain can crack you case. Of course if you keep it properly adjusted it would really reduce that chance.

yep happened to me, The chain came off bound up at the front sproket and broke the chain guard off which has studs into the case and made a little hole down into the trans, Some JB weld fixed it. But I run without a guard now and it will never happen again.

This is a fairly common prob, especially on 230 models. If happens often when the swingarm/carrier bearing have too much play. Also a snapped chain can get thrown into the case and break it. For the few bucks they cost, they can save you and expensive case.

I wouldn't pay more than 20 or 25.
