I finally found a well paying job, ive changed my sites again, first a big bear 400, then a 97 4trax 300 4x4, and now to the quadrunner 500 and quadmaster, whats better, i do not care about speed, so the 2wd on the master matter, i head that the quadrunner had a smidgen more power than the master cause it is auto clutch, i drive in semi deep mud when it rains, up steep smooth rock hills (this is a bitch with the quadsport!), rocky pepply trails, leave and root ridden trails, and pine forests, help,

 

by the way, if i got one of these, would it be a good idea to put 27' tires all around?

 

Well, kuk... I just read a shootout about the master and the runner 500. They both had pretty high ratings, but the runner is a little cheaper ($). As a matter of fact, I ride with a guy that has the quad runner. Now that I think of it, I would go with the runner. lol Naw, it really depends on if u want manual or automatic.

I have a 2000 quadrunner with 27x12x12 back and 27x12 x10 front mud bugs little rough on hard packed but worth it when it comes to mud it pulles through the only problem i had with the bike is that the fender flars have cracked and look very bad now only 5 months old flares chould be mad of better material other then that i love the runner.

 

For the type of trail riding you say you do, the runner would be your best bet... I have a runner and a friend of mine has a master, we ride in conditions much the same as you described, the runner does circles around the master in these situations (just because of the auto).... if you do alot of road riding though I'd go with the auto, they're both awsome machines!

I have to say go with the runner as well. They are cheaper, have loads of power and are a great machine. I haven't had too much trouble with the fender flares. They are designed to pull apart when they get caught on trees. The definetly will hit sometimes. You just loosen the screws and put them back together. 27" tires will fit without a lift or spacers and they have more than enough power to turn them. The low range is very powerful. I pulled a 10' pine tree out of the ground last week, stump and all. I never thought the machine would do it. I had a hell of a time, but it came out after three pulls. Never did I jerk on it, just eased on the throttle in low range, first gear and out it came.

 

well, i just saw the 2001 models, now the runner's only difference is the tranny, the 01' runner has 2wd and 4wd, should i go for this? or should i get the 2000, with and 2wd and 4wd it could wear it down right? you guys check out the new model and tell me what i should go for, thanks

 

I personally just mailed a check today to a dealer to hold a Quad Runner 500 for me. Thing is, it's a brand new '99, the "out-the-door" price he gave me is $5205. That's about as cheap as you can get a 4wd ATV these days, even the 250's are close to that.....

 

a dealer has a brand new 2000 quadrunner 500 for 5325 should i take it? or wait for the new one with 2wd for more money?

I bought the '00 Quadrunner, but if I were you, I'd wait for the 2wd/4wd ability on the '01.
It just adds a little more fun, and versatility to the machine.
