400ex vs. z400

i mainly ride trails and have a few jumps and stuff. i am 5'11" 210lbs, which is better for me and which is faster. which has better handling and more control. i have ridden a 400ex many times and i like it, but which do u guys think is better.

i would say that the z400 is way better becasue it is liquid cooled and has WAY more punch...I just got a z400 4 days ago and i raced a piped 400ex and i smoked it!! like 25-30 quad links... The only thing that is good about the 400ex is the price...but thats just my .02...

25-30 quad lengths in how long of a race obviously you have a higher top speed the longer you go the farther away you will be but a z400 is only faster than a 400ex by about 3 mph and my friends 400ex with big gun pipe, big gun cdi, big gun rectifier, and k&n filter beat a piped z400 in about a 300ft. race but the rider of the 400ex is about 105 lbs. and the rider of the z400 is about 200 lbs.
The 400ex is better for jumping and is known for it's solid reliability but if you are riding trails the z does have reverse which is a plus, it is liquid cooled which isnt always better (like when one of my coolant hose's on my raptor was touching my exhaust and it burned a hole in it and coolant started shooting everywhere) but I have never heard of a 400ex overheating I know many people ride them in the dunes and it's pretty hott out there. I'm assuming all the z's frame problems are fixed by now and the z is wider so it has more stability.
basically do you want reverse for the extra 400 or don't you mind getting off for like 5 seconds and pushing it backwards

we did really have a end of the race like you said but i still owned it off the line. And that story that you where talking about where you burnt the coolent hose how often does that happen and i think i would have noticed of there was smoke comeing up from my engine???

And yes i have seen a 400ex over heat while me and my body where goin up north to the dunes we had to stop 2 or 3 times becasue he engine was over heating...might have been just a freak one time event tho..

The Z. At your weight, you will need the stronger motor. Both bikes handling is excellent.

well onlythebest if u think thats true what ever for one the ex pulls alot harder and has a more snappy powerband ive raced equally moded z400's and beat them all they wont touch the ex the z is about the same as the ex other than the ex pulls harder more bottom and handles a little better plus the shocks can handle higher jumps but hey youve got a good quad and i like the z400 but not as much as the ex
