Default Head pipe.

My head pipe turns cherry red when I am riding or anytime other than idle. Why, and is it a problem?

All pipes get cherry red if it is on for a while. The reason it doesn't when you ride is because the air cools the header down.It is not a problem unless the pipe starts to melt......just kidding....it is not a problem, just remember not to let it idle for too long The engines in motor cycles and atv are not made to just sit, they have no way of further cooling them selves other than the oil..they don't have a fan to cool them while it is at idle.

is it a problem? oh yea! you are running to lean. you do not have enough fuel to cool the combustion chamber therefore creating hotter then normal exhaust gasses. if you do not get it fixed you can melt yer exhaust valve edges which will loose compression and eventually a loss of power. its easy to fix, you just need to put a larger jet in the carb to allow more fuel into the mixture. nathan.

I checked my plug and it wasn't white. I took it to a shop and they hooked it up to a gas anylizer and they said it was fine. So, what to do?

hmmm, seems right to me. have you or anybody else been into the engine any? sounds to me like a timing issue now. since it is an 03' maybe you can at least have that checked out under warranty to narrow that possibity down. nathan.
