Default LT250R Jetting Please Help!!!

Okay, I have a bit of a problem. I have my carb jetted at 240. With the air box lid on it takes a second to accelerate, but with the air box lid off it has a lot more take off power. So I jetted it down to a 230 with the air box lid on. It still does not accelerate as fast. I don't mind leaving the air box lid off if I am riding around by house. But if I go on atv rallies I don't know if I am getting into deep water or mud, so I don't want to leave my lid off in that situation. Please if anyone can give me any advice it would be greatly apreciated.

I threw my stock air box away the first day i bought my lt250( shoulda sold it on ebay). I also have a 38mm air stryker arent they great! i just have a outerwear which will bead away water, and dirt usually hits it and falls off. The carb side of the outerwear is kinda loose so i just use electrical tape and seal the K&N nice and tight. Youll need your airbox only if you plan to submerse the entire bike into water as outerwears werent designed to get soaked. I find this works really well just replace the tape and clean the filter/outerwear after each ride. The stock airbox helps hold the carb in place so id suggest buying some heavy duty hose clamps to keep your carb on tight.
