Default 85 quadracer jetting help she bogs a lil

i got a 85 250 quadracer, recent rebuild on motor. dg pipe and silencer and just a pod for air filter. i already went down one size on the pilot jet and she revs a lil quicker but not like my 87. when taking off she bogs a lil til you get to about 3 or 4000 rpm. so should i go one less on pilot again or should i move the needle jet up one to go a lil leaner?

thanks Bill

I wouldn't go changing the jetting... I went through the same problem when I got my 1981 rm125. It had such bad low end due to the fact that it lacked a powervalve. I thought there was something disastrously wrong with it. I started messing with the jetting and leaning it out and to my surprise it ran a little better until the motor overheated and blew because i was running it too lean. Don't make the same mistake as i did.... pre powervallve motors have absolutely no low end power (especially suzuki's of this era) under 3 or 4 grand. Your 87 quadracer has a powervalve which your 85 does not.... hence the bogging feeling you are getting. I'd suggest just buying v-force reeds or a 30 dollar prode sign reed spacer... boosts low end torque or perhaps buy a torque pipe if they are available for quadracers... I don't know about that though. I heard fmf fatty pipes boost power everywhere.
P.S. A stock banshee is a real bogger too and it comes with a boost bottle in stock form to help this problem (coudn't imagine how bad it would be if it had no boost bottle.) so don't feel so bad about your lt.

too late i already messed with the jetting lol. i went down one size on pilot and up one on the needle clip and she runs like a raped ape over 2500 now but i drive it wide open anyways. we watched our spark plug color and have run like 10 tanks through it this way with no burndown. the 85 stocker is nice but like what you were saying it has no ***** compared to the 87 with the powervalve and porting. thanks for the help anyways.
