Race gas...how much is too much
#11
GTFZ250 fuel octane is linear. In other words, if you have a fuel with 105 octane and a fuel with 115 octane and mix them 50/50 you will end up with a fuel of 110 octane. This will hold true for any octane fuel, not just my examples. You can mix and match to the octane you desire for your application.

Race gas can make you go faster for other reasons besides it's high octane rating. Right, Doctorturbo?

Well............"go faster" is a relative term. An oxygenated fuel is only going to give you 1 to 2% more power. That in a quad that is only about a 1/2 horse. Take a non-oxygenated race fuel and that will give you even less. Couple that with the slow burn you are going to get with it and you just may loose power, even though the race gas has more BTU/LB.
Are you going to loose power or make some more? Damn if I know. I would think all in all you arn't going to gain or loose anything that will show up in the form of time in a race. Sure smells good though!!
Hey if your getting the fuel for free, have at it. I personally would mix it 50/50 with pump gas to get the burn rate up if you are running stock compression and don't or can't mess with timing.

If you get gas at Chevron, they put more Techron crap in the supreme than in the regular. It USED to be that they didn't put ANY Techron additive in the regular, but they stopped doing that for one reason or another.
GAS IS NOT GAS!! All the refineries and oil companies make different formulations and put in different "cleaning and detergent" additives. I know my Toyota runs worse on some gas, and much better on others. Shell gas seems to be better, ARCO Am/Pm gas sucks a$$.

GTFZ250 I don't understand your last post. Lead is good for engines and engine parts such as seats and valves. The only thing lead is not good for is O2 sensors and people. It clogs O2 sensors and makes people dumb.............Hmmmmmmmmm?
So if I understand your question, mix away!!!!

That is not what I have heard. I know that leaded feul was good for older hot rod motors but not newer because as emissions got tighter they developed seats that are hardened and dont need leaded feul like older designs. Go to ctracing.com and the info on not to use leaded feul is in the tips section.

If you have any doubts I'd avoid it. The extra price of the fuel isn't worth the very marginal, if any, power increase you will see. Save you cash and buy some real mods instead of fancy gasoline.
