Default resistor plugs in lt 500

Does anyone know what the scoop on "R" type plugs in a lt500 is? good or bad
I have been running b8evx plugs with no problems for a while and when I went to get some more I was told they were discontinued. The new plug is a br8eix

The R stands for 'resistive' and has a higher impedance than a standard plug.

The entire ignition system is intended to be a matched setup for maximum spark delivery, If you change the impedance (By adding an 'R' plug) the system is no longer optimized...

Run what the mfg recommends... B8ES and you'll be fine

Is that what you run in yours (B8ES)? My factory service manual says B8EGV but they are a whole lot more expensive than the B8ES or B8EG. Do you know what the difference is between the 3 ?

Thanks for the info, the new iridium plugs are a "R" type plug, but they claim to have ultrafine center electrode to reduce voltage requirement for maximum spark energy.

The "r" means that they are made to not "leak" electricity to interfere with your radio reception. They should onlybe slightly more expensive and will do no harm to your atv.

yep.......

If you plan to put a stereo on the Zilla,,,,,,the resistor plugs will come in handy,,,,,,,,j/k

I think it really comes down to what the cost is to the dealer,,,,,,,,,

If he can buy 'r' plugs from the local auto-zone for cheaper than the non-'r' plug from his supplier,,,,chances are that is what he is doing

Im pretty sure that my manual says that Canadian models used the "R" plugs. Why, I have no idea....

I have run the "r" type plugs and the non "r" type plugs and I could not tell a difference except in the price. The "r" plugs are more expensive. I also checked with the dealer and he stated that there should be no performance differences.
