buy lt250r or banshee?
#1
i own two banshee's,and my girlfriend and her brother ride them while i ride my cr250. i decided i like the quads better, and i am going to buy another one, although im not very happy with the banshee's. although on the straights its a friggin topfuel dragster,i find its power isnt as usable in the trails. i was considering an lt250r,i have heard great things about them. i know stock for stock, the banshee would win a drag, but i figured the lt250r would have more low end than the low-endless banshee's.and with one cylinder be a little less maintenance. could you guys tell me how lt250r's stack up against the newer quads? as far as handling and actualy USEABLE power? four strokes are definitely out of the question. and the honda 250r's are outrageously priced. i would be buying an 88 or maybe a year newer lt250r,cause i like the blue and yellow

I’m pretty sure they were all blue and yellow originally. The 87-92 are a lot faster than the 85-6, respond better to mods and have more aftermarket parts available. The LT is definitely a better trail quad then a Banshee but a bone stock won’t keep up at all on long straightaways. My 91 has a FMF pipe/silencer Quadzilla carb and a Boyeson RadValve. It’ll keep up with stock to mildly modded Banshees out in the open maybe even beat a stock one (never raced a bone stock one) and will keep up with anything on trails. In my opinion the LT250 is the best 2 stroke you can get for trail riding and the Banshee although great for drag racing is one of the worst for trail riding.

Let me give you my 2 cents. The lt250r is a great bike I would take one over the banshee. The 87 to 92 250s are what your looking for. Dont waste your time on the 85 or 86 my lt 250 was an 87 it would take a banshee on the low end but after 200 ft or so he would pull ahead. But if you want the best advice do what I did forget the 250 and buy an lt500r the quadzilla thats what I did. Once you get used to the extra width.youl love it I would not trade my zilla for the world i just raced a 450r and a yfz it was not even close Trust Me....

oh i know the zilla's are the baddest quad ever made.little pricy, but well worth it. i just hate on the hills on the 2000 banshee, like hills with curves,if your not in the power, the thing wants to bog even in first, but when you get it in the power it just spins and goes outright crazy and uncontrolable.i want something with a way broader powerband.i dont care about being beat on long long open straights.i own a banshee for that. we ride in clay city kentucky where there is miles of tight tight uphills. ill just have to be careful buying an lt because of their age, make sure i get a good and tight one. il save the banshee's for field riding
