Default Z400 vs. YZF 450

Ok I know stupid question but does anyone know how the Z would do against a YZF 450? I would think in a drag the 450 would win, on the trail I don't know? I wonder if the Z has got more low end torqe than the YZF too. I do say though the YZF is a bad *** bike! I almost got one but thought it would be to much bike for me, and the price was a little out of my leauge. I rode a raptor and that was fast as hell too, also thought that would be to much as well. My Z400 is quick, but I feel it's not fast enough!

the yfz would win in a drag, but just about everything else is determined by rider skill, and i think the z wheelies better, and is much more comfartable.

if you need more power, get a 470 kit, it would beat the trx470r, because it has dohc, and the r is unicam, but probably not a yfz 470

I would have to disagree with a z-470 beating a trx470.

with 2 equel riders the yzf or the trx would win hands down.... exept for in reverse...... look at power to weight ratios

I have raced a couple of times with YFZ450's and I feel the 450 seems to be a good racing bike straight from the crate, but depends if ure experienced or not. People who have raced before seem to find the ride hard and unforgiving but fairly nimble due to the shocks, steering and fairly low ride. the z400 is a very forgiving ride and i am impressed by the power band carring from bottom right up to top end and to be honest i dont see much difference apart from some comments given from other people..

What have you done to your Z? Stock it's pretty tame. Once you unleash it, you will feel like you have a whole new bike. Just pipe it, let it breathe, and jet it and you will wonder who switched out your bike.

Also keep in mind that a Z400/YFZ is not a apples/apples comparison. The YFZ may be fast but, it's not real friendly or comfortable. This translates into less forgiving and more rider fatigue. The seat alone wheres me out The Z400 has a lot more 'play potential' than the YFZ in my opinion.

I think most would agree with me when i say that the YFZ would easily beat a Z400 in a race. the YFZ simply has more power and less weight. If you think the ride is unforgiving you are wrong, there is hardly any botteming and as long you arent puttputting around the shocks are great, plus there are fully adjustable which means you can adjust the stiffness of them. The Z is more comfortable and better for long trips and makes for a great all around quad.
