Pro:
Excellent handling
Good power with very good potential and lots of parts availible.
DOHC design for higher revs and more power up top but still with enough torque.
Liquid cooling for cooler temps and more power.
Lots of them around for parts and info.
Con:
Still needs significant power increases to run with the 450 class and with mildly modded big bores.
DOHC design is more expensive and complex to work on.
Liquid cooling is nice, but its another thing that can break down.
Price is pretty close to the raptor, predator, and others. Makes you think about upgrading, or sorry that you didnt.

I baught mine several months ago.
Stock, they are excelent, I so far have added turf tamers and and racing with every kind of quad, raptors, YFZ's, predators...
Too be honest, the LTZ is lighter than all of these stock, and i am kicking some *** with it!!! it all depends on the rider, the z400 ride is comfortable, forgiving and very enjoyable
I love it and would never touch a raptor due to how much u have to spend to even get it up to the z400's stock level.
Still the YFZ is very nice and if u can afford one, have a ride and compare...
Good luck boyo. Gareth

It's a great ride. I love mine. Love the reverse, the handling, the cushy seat. There are tons of aftermarket stuff out for it too. I don't really like the huge swingarm, but it looks better now. The whole thing is taken apart and getting revamped. The swingarm is black now with candy red accented pieces. I just love it! I haven't heard of anyone being disappointed that they bought one!

I've had my KFX since last October and it has been an excellent quad.
Likes:
Quick revving & powerful
Handles awesome
Lights work great at night
Gets pretty good range out of a tank
Love the slim ergos
Very smooth and easy to shift
Wheelies like nothing else! Pull it up in 2nd or 3rd and hold it there for as long as you dare in 5th
Air filter and box are easy to clean
Battery is easy to get at
Suspension is plush
REVERSE
Has a radiator fan for slow going
Dislikes:
Stalls too easily on tight, slow trails. But a heavier flywheel would take away from its snappy response.
Front shocks are soft when you slam through the whoops
20" tall stock rear tires suck for rocky terrian
Don't like the way the rear linkage hangs down. Can and does hit rocks
Adding oil is a major PITA
Chain adjustment - IT SUCKS
Back up kick start would be nice, but nobody offers that anymore. Too bad
Fenders don't protect you too well from water & mud. What sport quad does however?
Stock front tires are too narrow, don't float well in snow or protect the rims.
Once piece subframe/grab bar dumb idea. Changed for '04.
I have not ridden a new 450 but those quads are not as verstile as the 400 for all types of riding. I've ridden 400EX's and to me they just don't compare because the Z400 is a better value with reverse and liquid cooling, plus it has better performance. The Raptor is too tall and narrow. I think the Quadsport 400 is the best all around quad on the market today.
