I already asked this question before but I didn't get many answers so I thought that I would ask it again.

When I got my atv out from storage, in my garage aftre nearly 2 weeks, I noticed a pretty noticable clicking sound only in reverse... I took the wheel off and hit the gas, it didn't do it, so I rolled the tire around a bit. Nothing.. I can think of what the heck it could be

Oh yeah, it's a 2000 suzuki King Quad only like 350 miles.

Jester, you're gonna have to give us more info... Which wheel is clicking, what were you doing, where were you riding before you parked it in the garage? I've never heard any clicking in my '99 KQ wheels. Good luck...

Well, the wheel that I took off was the back right, thinking that it had somthing to do with the brakes on that side. Seeing as though all the brake stuff is over there. Um... I didn't really ride it through anything too bad the day that I put it away. and I wash it every time I get back from a ride, so the mud couldn't have been the problem. I love rock crawling, but I have never really hit anything.

Mornin' Fellas,

I have seen posts that talk about a clicking noise in the rear right wheel of the King Quad when in reverse before. I have never seen any resolution in any of these posts but my theory is that it is the the brake drum. The brake drum is in the right rear wheel, so that makes sense. The Suzuki drum brake is a self adjusting brake drum, self adjusting drums adjust themselves when you go in reverse. The tension on the drum is used to catch the next tooth on the shoe. If your drum is trying to move up to the next tooth on the shoe but is falling just a hair short it might not catch and make your clicking noise. 3/4 pick-up trucks are famous for making this noise around 30,000 miles because they have very heavy rear drum brakes and it takes quite a bit of force to adjust the brakes.

As for why it started after you had it in storage? It could be a world of little stuff, cable stretch, mud in the drum that has dried completely.........could be anything.....

I truely thank you all... I had a feeling that it could be the self adjusting brakes, but I wasn't sure whether the quad had self adjusting drums... Thanx again!
