87 quadracer milling tolerance question

ok you can try 2 base gaskets if you like it might work but its hard enough to keep most 500 from blowing out one. i gess call tudors performance and see if there no blow gaskets come in doulble thickness base or head. 2 individual gaskets wont last in my opinion. good luck.

I never thought of looking for a double thick gasket. My brother told me to use gasket sealer between them on the side they meet to kind of make it into one thick gasket. My machinist rules, and does awesome work,so im thinking of just getting the head milled in a little bit,im thinking the head milling might be a better alternative, what do you think?

That will work as long as the machinist relieves the entire profile of the heads' dome and not just the outer edge. (Unless u want higher compession, then thats ok lol) . I myself am a machinist and I used our CNC lathe to do this very proceedure on a friends TRX250R. It runs great and has had no problems. I do agree with some of these guys that stacking gaskets is bad juju. U r askin for probs there. I've seen it work in a 250honda, but we're talkin bout Zillas here right?
One thing to think about though....if you mod the head, now u have a head that is no good for any other jug so you could end up with 2 nice paper weights.

Im going to do the milling idea. when my base gasket is installed, and the piston is at the very top of the stroke, the top corners of the piston just barely come out.and when i put the head gasket on,and bolt the head down,it doesnt hit,but i dont feel comfortable with how close it is. is it ok for the sides of the piston barely come out like that? i only came up with the idea of using two base gaskets because that is about how far thepiston is coming out of the cylinder ,oh yeah, this is an lt250 quadracer, not a quadzilla. I was afraid when i milled for the piston to bump the head gasket, since its a pretty close fit.

you'll be fine so long as the piston clears the head gasket and you have milled the right amount out of the the squish point(outer-most area, and shallowest part) of the dome.
