Default Hotcams for z400

I am looking into getting some cams for my z and just need to know if I should buy just the intake cam or both the intake and exhaust cams. I am only getting the stage 1 cam because I read that the stage 1 is all I need to increase power just for serious trail riding, and I can use my stock springs and valves. I also read that stage 2 is more for MX and desert riding and plus you have to change out springs and valves then. So out of all of that should I get one or two cams and after do I need to get it rejetted?

I have both cams in mine. With both cams you will lose a little bottom end (very little) but the mid-high punch is alot stronger. You don't have to change valve springs with these cams(both cams are identical) one is intake the other is exhaust(you have to change springs on the RAPTOR stageII).you might need a re-jet.

thats a very good question, i just got my cams put in about 2 weeks ago and i did notice the loss from my low end.( i am very picky) But you can feel the gain on top to mid. Before with stock cams it almost had to much torque and pep with my mods which were slight so i figured i could loose a little low end . ( not including nos) I would like to know how my quad would of reacted to just the intake cam. But my main concern is drag racing than trail and track. I think the two cams would be better for drag racing not sure though since your at high rpm most of the time. Hotcams told me that you loose 1% low end and 14% top end. so you got to think 14% of 33HP lets say after exhaust and intake thats about 4 hp gain making it 37hp.

if you put in just an intake cam you will notice improved power at all rpm's. if you put in both cams your low end should be comparable to what it's at now but will pull stronger in midrange and top end as compared to just an intake cam. I would suggest while your motor is apart to put in a drz base gasket which will raise the compression and add low end. If you put in both cams and the gasket you will have improved power at every throttle position.

Well don't I have to have the head off in order to put on that gasket? I just plan on taking off the valve cover and changing the cams from up top and that's it.
