I've ridden my z about 3 times and I have noticed a couple problems lately, one is that when i go in reverse and start moving the engine wants to sputter and has no power? but in any other gear it runs fine, why only reverse?

another thing i've noticed is a vibration and a crappy noise when its at higher RPMs or about maybe 3/4 throttle, maybe thats just how these bikes sound but it just doesn't seem right? Do thses bikes need a valve adj already?

Well let me know if any of this sounds familiar, I am going to call the shop this week while a still have a warrenty. thanks, Brett

The sputtering and no power thing in reverse is your rev limiter. It only lets the engine
turn so many rpm's in reverse. I know, it kinda sucks, but I guess there are ways to
override that.
As for the other problem, what do you mean by a crappy noise? Is it an engine noise?
Does it get sluggish?

I guess if you think it may be something serious, take it back. They will know for sure.

the vibration is normal......usually to combat it some i will jump up a gear to keep the rpms down some....also im gonna take the bottom motor mounts loose and insert 2 rubber pieces in there which should cut down on the vibration to the frame

reverse....your are just hitting the rev limiter.....i think its 2k rpm's.....do a search and u should find a thread about how the rewire it override it....they also sell something that you can install to override it

The "crappy noise" you are hearing at 3/4 throttle could be the rev limiter also. If you're revving it too high it does make a different sound when the rev limiter kicks in.

hey, thanks everbody for your help. I went and rode my bike again and your right I'm hitting the rev limiter, you just have to keep it slow!

and for the vibration, the first thing i did was to check to see if anything was loose. i guess its ok?

thanks again,
