Default Tuning LT-Z400 just a little ?

Hi

Yupp, this is another spot on tuning Z400. I have seen the other topics, but still wondering a little.

I am wondering about putting on K/N Powerlid and do rejetting, and keep the stock exhaust. Do I get any remarkable effect by doing this ?

Otherwise should I put on a aftermarket exhaust ( I do not want any moore noise from it ), but are there any exhaust that will give more ponys and not are any louder than stock ? ( I am thinking of ex. Yoshi, do they have a quiet core )

I want moore power, but not moore sound ( because of my neighbors )

I appreciate any reply

I believe the CT pipe is the one of the quietest of the pipes tested by dirtwheels. It is also one of the best for the z400. You will get a power increase from retuning your bike and adding the k&n. Not a huge difference but it should be noticeable. Good luck.

doing your mentioned mods wills give you a noticeable seat of the pants feel...but to really make it worth while i'd at least also do a slip on pipe it will make it all that much more noticeable...i have a fmf with a quiet core..but its not all that quiet...i do believe fmf makes a slip on that is quite quiet but i do not remeber the name of it..also hmf has a pipe called the qs1 which is only a couple db's louder than stock but i cant remember if they have one for the z....the yosh pipes are also not all to quiet even with the insert...
i run a kn with an outerwear, no airbox lid or snorkus, with an fmf t4 slip on, and a 150(stock 136) mainjet, along with the dynojet needle with the clip in the different spot as per their directions and i have noticed quite a power increase by the seat of my pants so to say..i can pull all the way from a dead stop to top end on my neighbors stock z and in a 300' drag ill put about 3-4 lengths on him. also before i did the mods lauching in 2nd would normally bog but now it'll bust em loose pretty good...

Thanks for your reply's guys !

I am wondering about jetting, should I go for the dynojet or mikuni sets ? ( someone think that's the mikuni are more easy to get the right size )

I have an FMF PowerBomb header and Ti-4 muffler, with quiet core. I wouldn't call it a stealth exhaust by any means, but it is reasonably quiet. Get an FMF Q if you want to be REALLY quiet. Vented airbox lid (http://www.ehsracing.com/), and UNI air filter. (I chose the EHS lid over the K&N.)

The Z engine really needs to breathe, so anything you do to increase air going in or exhaust going out, will help. You will need to rejet!
