I'm looking at a LT230 Quadsport for my wife, but it has a kickstart, so I was wondering if anyone has ever converted one to an electric start? Were all the 230's kick start? Does anyone have any comments good or bad about this machine?

The 230's and later the 250's are all sideways kickstart, but there is an aftermarket electric start kit you can buy. The two main concerns are the top end and the swingarm. The swingarm bearings tend to go, causing the chain to pop off and crack the engine casing. the other concern is that the motors having a history of eating valves. I'm not neccessarily saying they'll all bad, because I had 2 myself, and had no real problems with them. If you can find a clean one, you can probably get a good deal on it.

I have a 230 quadsport too. My chain has poped off and my caising cracked. Is there anyway that you can fix it without buying a new cover. My chain gets loose easy. Over all I am happy with my quadsport. It has never missed a beat. does yours tend to smoke sometimes.

You want a quadsport with an electric start? I suggest you to buy a quad runner 230 sport, it is exactly the same quad but semi-automatic and electric start. The rest of the quad is exactly the same thing, same shape...

I agree with max250. Don't get your best friend a quad she won't be happy with. Spend a little extra cash and get something you both will enjoy. Let us know how you make out. Sure would like to get my wife to ride with me sometimes. She's forty somethin' and needs an automatic... :0)
Have fun...

I ended up finding an unbelievable deal on a '96 Polaris 400 Explorer 4x4. My wife loves it...she feels like she can run right over me now (if she could catch me). I have never considered a Polaris before. I like two strokes and it's perfect for her since you have a gear shift on the side for forward high, low & reverse, just punch the button and hang on...if you get stuck, punch another button for 4x4.
