Default z400 was running/now it wont start

ok, bought a real nice used z400, has been running perfect, no mods/all stock, maybe the air filter is aftermaket but i don't know since its used, anyway, been starting and running fine, than last weekend, it was running and starting all day, than it would not start, after about an hour, it started up, when riding, and it started every time since then, ok, small cliche, but today it did the same thing, started and ran fine, then it would not start, let it cool down, still nothing, had to drag it to the truck, two hours later after it cool down, still nothing, did a search and i will check the pilot jet, but has anyone else had this problem?? what else good it be? i have always gotten good help here on this forum, so dont let me down now.............thanks.......

Check valves. My brother had a Z and it would kick over but not start. Did a compression check and it was about 80lbs. Not enough to start. On valve was was tight a left the vavle open at all time, so thus no compression. Re-shimmed valve and it started right up.

yes, tried the fuel valve,
yes engine is turning over and i am getting spark to the plug
will do compression check/ and check the vavles
carb bowls have fuel in them, just doesn't seem to be getting up in the carb??
checked the boots to the carb also, they are alright
just did not know about the carb, since it has no off position, gets fuel when the engine is running
