Rode a DS before buying my KFX, and I wasn't impressed. Even though the weight is real similar between the two quads, the KFX is a much more nimble feeling machine. The DS is too wide for trail riding around here as well. That's why I bought the LT--I can keep the KFX for trails and have the LT for a nice dunes-only machine.

Trails??

If you ride trails, and want a mid. bore 2-stroke, you should be thinking of nothing but the 250R...The handling is awesome for the tight trails..Its a better overall quad than the LT250...

also check out the z400, 400ex, and 450R for a few other great trail bikes...

I've got a 2004 KFX700 that I ride trails with, and it is IMHO the best trail bike on the market right now--it's not quite as fast as the 450R, but it's a helluva lot more comfortable and will eat a EX or Z for lunch. I've already bought an LT, and it is just going to be a second quad for me. Will this LT ever even see a trail? Not as long as I own my KFX. My KFX is a blast to dune with as well, but the auto tranny just isn't ideal for shooting hills, especially ones with short runs. I just want a purpose built fast quad that I don't have a fortune into.

Well if you already bought the LT250, then try picking up a blown quadzilla motor to rebuild...That'd be the first step...and if you like to tune quads all the time and feel lucky, do some modding

Well heck. You should have mentioned that you picked up a 250. Looks like half of the job is done. One option that the Lt needs is a new suspension. AKA new shocks. Makes a world of difference. Makes it feel like a totally different quad. Those 13 year old plus shocks were done a long time ago. That way the suspension is there for the new power you will get and add to your safety factor. I wish I had done the suspension first then the motor instead of the other way around. Don't listen to these na sayers They are really good quads when you maintain them like anything elese.

if you upgrade the suspension on the 250 and put a quadzillas motor in it, it will beat a fullsize quadzilla due to the fact it weighs 60-70 lbs less. i posted pics of mine on my page but it is waiting approval. after buying a quadzilla motor and harness, carbs etc and selling your 250 stuff it is actually a pretty cheap swap. my buddy had a race built 250 and i would destroy him on any terrain and at that time i was only making about 55hp.

gsxrquadracer1000,

What kind of plastic are you running on that quad? Is that some type of one-piece front end?

all you have to do is take out the y that goes from the lower frame rail to the upper rail and install 2 almost vertical bars. that is it for frame modification. you will have to get a pipe made. ct makes them and so does trinity and ftz(drag pipe only, that is what i had on mine). you just use 500 motor mounts and wiring harness and a spacer for the rear sprocket and you are done.
