winter coming

I know alot of people dont ride in the winter, but I ride year-round. What do you guys do to stay warm while riding in the winter months? I know last year i froze my *** off, I would like to stay more comfortable this year. How hard is it to install heated grips and are they worth it? I also want to get hand-guards for all four machines, I dont know if they make them for the suzuki z250? also does anyone know of a thick nice warm glove that doesnt restrict hand movements and is good for riding? Thanks for any input.

Handguards make a big difference! We bought heated grips for the Ozark, but we haven't put them on yet. I don't think it's real difficult. You may want to invest in some. I wish there were more places around me to ride in the winter.

Yes I ride winter months all the time. Hand and thumb warmer are a very good investment. I put a windshield on in the winter also. I use my four wheelers during calving in Feburary, some nights it's 0 degrees or colder.

How well do they run in weather that cold? Im also wondering about water crossings, how will a hot engine react to a deep water crossing in the winter?
I think im going to go with handguards, and heated grips/thumb throttle...I would like to get some additional lighting on the 250's but i dont think its possible, someone said I would kill my electrical system.

Well, I'll tell you from my experiences with riding ATVs in the winter and being a Marine. The most important thing you can do in cold weather is STAY DRY. I wear gortex pants and knee high rubber boots. My upper body rarely gets cold (except for my hands) and I wear neoprean gloves. Seeing as your from GA it probably doesn't get colder than it does here in VA, so you should be GTG. Hope this helps.

Heat grips are the #1 thing I would not want to get through winter without. After that the biggest thing, as mentioned before is stay dry. Not overheating yourself is important also. I'm sure they make hand guards for the Z250.
Your jetting changes a little in the winter. maybe yours isn't spot on, and maybe winter is just aggravating the problem. I have never had an air cooled bike that didn't run well in the winter. I had my atv up in Canada and we used it to haul our ice huts out on the lake when it was -40. It ran fine after it warmed up. Turned over a lot slower though.
