New Z400 Rear Brake Squeek!
Hey all,
I have a brand new '04 Z400, and since the day i bought it the rear brake has a pretty nasty squeek. Every about 2 feet it squeeks. So
When you are going fast, you don't hear it, and or it is not doing it, but at slow speeds its a constant squeek..
I know everyone at the dealer says its probably just the new brake shoe's breaking in, or dust in the brakes.. But it has done it since it was loaded on to the trailer..
I have tried spraying brake cleaner on it, and the squeek went away for about 5 minutes, but then it came right back..
I don't know if the brake needs adjusting, or if there just nothing you can do about it..
How do you know if you need to adjust it? and how do you adjust it? I figure it could be the parking brake needs adjusting, maybe when you take the parking brake off, it's still got a slight pressure on the rotor, or if it's the rear brake that may need adjusting..
I am sure though that Doug Gust's rear brake doesn't squeek, so why should mine (In other words, there's got to be a way to fix it)
Thanks,

I actually road around the whole yard with the rear brake on, and as soon as i let up, it started squeeking again.

The dealer told me "It's fine, just new pads breaking in" But if it is warped, then i need to figure it out, cuz they are going to pay for the new rotor!

New Z400 Rear Brake Squeek!
My KFX400's rear brake has squeaked from day one.It even squeeked right out of the crate on the pavement before it got to play in the dirt.
Still squeeks to this day but not as much, tends to squeak less and less as you ride now.
I think its fine.
I checked everything out since I got to help put her together.
