Z400 running a little rich...
#1
My Z seems to be running just a LITTLE bit rich, so the spark plug says.
Here is my setup:
K&N Filter
Airbox Lid Removed
Dynojet jet kit
160 main
White Bros. E-Series slip-on with all 12 discs
Any ideas how to get more air in? Or do I need to rejet?
The plug isnt completely black, but blacker than it should be.
Any help greatly appreciated!

It performs EXCELLENT, but I am just concerned about it being rich.
Maybe I am being paranoid, but I just dont want to wreck anything.
I am an amateur at jetting, if you couldnt tell already.

I didnt perform an actual plug check, I just pulled the plug out
and looked at it. This is probably where I am screwing up.
What is the best way to actually check it??

I was told to run 1 size larger on the jetting
its better to be rich than to lean
and get the full pipe

start 'er up
let it warm up by itself
let it idle there with NO throttle for 5 or so minutes
shut it off
check the plug
put in a new plug
start 'er up
if it's still warm then take it out and go for a while using only 3/8 to 1/2 throttle at the most
clutch it and hit the kill switch
come to a stop
check plug
put in a new plug
start 'er up
probably still warm so take it out and rip through the gears to the highest and hold it wide open for 8-10 seconds, then clutch it and hit the kill switch
come to a stop
check plug
^that's how i did it anyway
but if it's running a little bit rich, leave it. you'll run a little cooler and have the peace of mind that nothing's going to fry.
