Default Vinson 500 Questions

Just bought a NOS 2004 Vinson 500, love the quad and have a couple of questions. First I need a shop manual, dealer? And also a good place and part number for oil filters. Thanks

I haven't been able to locate a shop manual, but ronnies.com has microfiche type diagrams of the '03 Vinson under oem parts. As for oil filters, Fram has em-everywhere, or check e-bay.

Your local dealer should have the shop manual, about $70 I think.

I bit the bullet and ordered them from the dealer today. Bought a oil filter and oil also. I've been riding dirt bikes for 35 years, all my bikes had full service manuals. I want to check the valves when it hits 100 miles, but have to wait two weeks for the manuals. Does the suzuki use shims or adjusters on the valves?

I've seen the oil filters at Advance Auto and Wal Mart. Just do a cross reference and you'll find them much cheaper than the dealer. I'm still running OEM filters now, but for my next oil change, it will be the aftermarket.

I cannot find the Valvoline ATV oil anywhere!!! I'm still running Suzuki label oil for now.

Go to http://www.repairmanual.com for repair manuals. Click on ATVs on the left column menu and follow the prompts. They are not cheap, but this is the only place that I've found with factory repair manuals.

As for OEM parts, i just bought some stuff from http://www.mrcycles.com. They have the microfiche files that allows you to be sure you select the right parts number. After looking all over the web, they had the best prices. For typical things like oil filters, likely it makes the most sense to just go to your dealer. What you save in price on the web for small parts, you may make up for in shipping costs.

Enjoy the Vinson. I love mine.
