Hey guys, I have a 88 LT 280 .80 over psi racing pipe fmf silencer, boyesen reeds and cage, I run 40:1.. This is how my carb is setup I have a 30 pilot and a 240 main and the needle at the very top clip NOT the bottom. I am confused. The bike hauls and runs very fast. If I drop the needle to the 2nd clip it get boggy and does not run half as good. What would be the reasons to where I cant open the needle more to get more gas in the bike? Seems like when you add mods you would raise the needle rather than drop it further down. Any suggestions would be appreciated

 

A 240 main for your set-up sounds kinda thin. I am running a 270 main on the standard bore with a pipe. That may be your problem.
