axle bearing seal question

Default axle bearing seal question

i don't have a manual in front of me(i am at "work")and i noticed that the pivot works seals have a ridge one one side,does this raised area face the bearing or away from it

the ridge you refer to is the sealing edge right (presses against the carrier to create the seal)this side goes in 1st. The hollow side goes in 1st (and I usually pack it with grease to displace any water that might get in there).

i called pivot works and they told me to install with the ridge facing out[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-shocked.gif[/img]
no biggie,i put in a grease fitting between the adjuster studs so i can fill up that mo fo up with grease..i also removed the bearing seals that face inward so grease can get into the bearing
