z400, Rappy660, or 400ex?

I'm trying to make up my mind.
I really like the idea of getting another Yamaha since I have like 7K on my Yamaha credit card, but beyond the 660 I just don't see anything. The YFZ is a bit too much for the woods, it's really an MX and dunes machine. I like the 660's power and all but it feels a bit big and tippy to me.
The 400ex finally has reverse, but if I go new, would it make more sense to just buy the Z?
My ONLY question about the Z is it's reliability. I like the idea of the "bullet proof" rep that comes with things like my Warrior or a 400ex.
I'll take reliability over speed and performance any day.
I mean would it be wise to look for a slightly used 03' Z400, or is there still a question of long-term reliability with the engine and tranny?
I love the feel and handling of the Z, and the power is more than enough for the woods and trails I ride and race in.

id go with the Z4 or the 660, the raptor isnt really tippy, everyone just thinks it is so when they hop on it it feels tippy to them becuase its in there head, i have no probs riding my buddys raptor and taking sharp turns without even lifting off 2 wheels

1st of all, the new honda 400 looks cool with ther new plastics, but if you get both their stats and compare the two, the z is a betetr quad. As for reverse, all of them have it. As for the rappy, its all about if you want that extra 260 ccs's. More power.

I think the battle is between the Z and the 660. The honda just lacks the power with these two machines in mind. The z has the ultra soft suspension, and the raptor the power. The raptor is not tippy at all when you have experience. IT's also not that big compared to the V-Force and the Bomb. They are both awesome machines and responde nice to mods.
Both are reliable, just don't get a used 2001 rappy.
Also how tall and are you and how much do you weight?

See I've never really ridden a Raptor for a good enough amount of time. It feels tippy, but maybe it's not so much. Maybe because you sit high up on the machine. Anything feels big and tippy compared to a Warrior I guess.
You guys were no help at all, now I'm more divided...LOL just kidding..... I'm actually glad to get more pespective on the whole thing.
I've pretty much ruled out the 400ex at this point, mainly because I don't think I'll be going new. I'll probably be going for a "like new" dealer trade it or something.
I think I'll have to get more seat time on both to see. I'm still leaning towards the Z but I don't think I'd turn away a smoking deal on a Rappy.

I like the Z better than the raptor I felt more relaxed on it
get what feels comfortable to you not what people tell you to get
raptors are great bikes but not for me
the 400ex is great for trail riding and very easy to maintain

I'd have to agree with Mucky. I think the Z is more comfortable than the Raptor. I have a 400ex now and it is an awesome bulletproof quad. But I am looking for more power and I want that planted feel that the EX offers. I will be buying a new Z400 tomorrow. Either way you go, you will have a sweet machine. Raptor=more power, little more maintenance. Z400=less power, slightly better handling, one carb=less maintenance.
