Well i was wondering how the King Quad was gonna do on the Rubicon trail? It did real good and as far as im concerned the Rubicon Trail is a good test for any 4x4 quad. Two things are a must if your going to do this trail.A winch,And a full length skid plate.Even thou the KQ is only a 280cc the different gear settings were a great help.I rode in 4 low most of the time but used diff lock in some of the bad spots. The KQ just took it's time and did its job.I was impressed.I had no mechanical problems at all.....BOB

I am a Yamaha rider and this is the first time I have ever ventured into King Quad area. Just thought I would let you know that at the Sorrento LA mudride a cajun gal on a KQuad smoked almost everyone and all makes. Of course she had on her short white rubber boots as is required formal social wear down here.

The king quad does great in the mud I think, even with the damn stock tires, which suck! But I know when I sold my old polaris (piece of crap) to my nextdoor neighbor, he told me I wouldn't be able to keep up with him, but I can go through as much if not more mud with my king quad (with stock tires, but not for long)as my father and nextdoor neighbor can do with their Polaris 300 explorer 4x4 and Honda 300 4x4... As well as a friend from school on a zuki 500 quadrunner.

Well, I was planning on getting the ITP Blackwaters for it, but as u know the king quad has a slight power lack, so I was thinking of getting either Vampires, or the goodyear mudrunner or whatever it is called, lol. I think I'll go with the goodyear, because I heard that they r a lot lighter, plus they will run flat (2" hole)...

I was sorta thinking about Blackwaters myself.Do you know how much more the Blackwaters weigh compared to the stock tires? But i just may go with the Titans 489s or something close.I dont ride a lot of mud .....BOB

Jester, I thought you told me, you already have 589's on your KQ. Am I wrong about that? Just wondering, since you obviously have new tires.

Last night I took my QR500 to the "swamp" for the first time, it did okay with stock tires, but my KQuad with stock tires did better. The one time I rode the KQuad in the swamp since adding 589's it was practically unstoppable. The only places I had trouble was in deep mud with a steep solid bank on the other side. the KQ just didn't have the power to pop outta the mud and up the bank.
