I need some serious answers on this. Trading off my Grizz and Prairie, and I was dead set at getting a King and Brute. However, the ride reports for the SP 800 sound like its an amazing, well-engineered machine; I don't think I want a Brute anymore. How do these three machines compare against each other. Any info would help...

I chose the Suzuki KQ for several reasons.

1.Brute Force had far to many first yr issue's with it,directly from the crate.
2.Fuel mileage is not real important to me,BUT,range is.The twins really ''suck up the gas''and dont have the 80-100 mile range I like to get on a quad.
3.Polaris Big Bore 4x4 quads weigh about 170lbs more from the crate than its counterparts.Thats like lugging around another rider on your ATV everytime you ride.
4.Kawi and Polaris belt drives are far more prone to having trouble than Suzuki

I like my new KQ alot and feel I have made the right choice for ''me''!

Good Luck!

Bill

Purchased my KQ about 6 weeks ago. Wanted a quad with EFI because I ride a lot in the winter. Compared the KQ with the Polaris 700EFI(almost identical to the 800EFI, except for engine discplacement). Purchased the KQ for potentially better reliability and the weight factor. Even my buddy's Polaris 500H.O. feels heavy compared to my KQ.

The weight of the PS isnt as much as a factor as it seems to be. Once you add comparable tires to the KQ and some better under carriage protection you are closer than you think. I would love to see someone weigh a stock KQ from this forum. I would bet it doesnt weigh anywhere near it's advertised weight.

Good point, Snowwolfe. Apples to apples, I don't know how they compare technically. I am still using the stock tires. However, I know how they "feel" side-by-side regardless of what is printed in a brochure. And to me, the Sportsman rides much heavier. Maybe it's partly due to lighter weight steering on the KQ. Maybe it's overall weight. Maybe it's both.

I also would like to see someone actually weight them both,I'm real sure the KQ is at LEAST 100lbs. lighter.Just try to pick a polaris up (front or rear) then try a KQ,Grizzly or a Prairie.Believe me you WILL know the difference!polaris=HEAVY!!

Since I own both I am of the opinion it makes no sense to compare them side by side. The KQ is more of a sport based quad while the PS is biased more towards utility. Either one of these can be tricked out to do different things. Buy the one you like the most for your needs.

I weighed my KQ in it came in at 645lbs wet with stock tires. Once Bighorns are on, it jumped to 702lbs.
