The piston may act as a valve, but it is not a like the valves in a 4-stroke by any means. Perhaps you should do some reading:

No they don't have actual valve's like a 4-stroke,I think he ment that the piston and reed's act like valve's that are in a 4-stroke.I remember in shop class many moon's ago the study book called reed's (Reed valve's).

Reed valves, some have rotary valves, and then we have some with powervalves[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img] But no they are not like the valves of a 4-stroke.
