Just though this would be a fun question, those that have broken in King quads what have you beat?were you surprised? did you dust anyone badly? Did anyone dust you? Im sure those that are interested in buying king quads will want to know how it stacks up against other brands and models speedwise. Another thing do all Kings have this low end hesitation? I have a feeling that a lot of people buy a newly released quad, complain about things that can be easily fixed the same seems to ring true with the kawasaki Brute Force a low speed miss was reported but now you hardly never see a post on that issue Just a thought, with the Reverse issue it seems like if the person from the factory installed the clip backwards that has nothing to do with reliability at least in my mind if someone is considering buying a kingquad i would suggest waiting for some real answers on the probloems they MAY have now if they can beat a 700 sportsman efi stock imagine if people started playing with the fuel mapping and so on I think this Quad will rival the Prairie in most respects after it is tuned out .

The same day I took my KQ home,my 24 yr old son hopped on it and I grabbed my Rincon.I took my son out of the hole by a quad and a half. When we got to about 15mph,he blew right past me on the KQ.We only raced until 45mph.

Have'nt raced since!

There are bikes more suited to 'drag racing' than a utility quad.
If I were only concerned with racing I would pick one of them.

I can't stand it when people say that crap about there are quads more suited for drag racing.. well no s**t. As far as I know they make these big bores faster and sportier year after year, I wonder why? I wonder why anyone would get a Blaster? Its not going to beat a Rapter but I think those guys still like to race them. If I have a full size truck or car I can't race a friend just because its not the Ideal drag racer? Usually I only hear this from people with the slower vehicle, defending why theirs is slower.

And guess why I bought the King Quad instead of a Traxter... I want to go fast, I want to be comfortable, I want 4x4, I want mud protection. And I want to race I guess Penland should drop out of racing because there are quads "more" suited for drag racing...

I know the throttle goes all the way for a reason

That is just one man's RANT.

The fact of the matter is, EVERYONE is intersted in drag results between utility quads. Yes, there are better suited quads for a drag race, such as a sport quad. But the argument that states buy a sport quad if you're intersted in dragging holds no weight. People who buy utility quads want to drag like the sport quad guys do, and they want to go mudding and do all the other great things you can do with a 4x4 quad that you can't do on a sport quad. It's what guys do when we get together, we drag race, establish a pecking order. LOL

All the magazines address the drag race first thing in a shootout. Why? because everyone wants to know. I want to know. It's arguably the most discussed topic on these forums. Why do all the manafacturers keep making them bigger and stronger? because it matters to people and people want the biggest and the fastest.

It's the people who have the slower quad, for what ever reason, that try to justify why their quad is "overall better" than a faster quad. They say "it handles better" or "it has enough power for me" or other weak justifications. The fact is, many KQ owners do this all the time, seemingly insanely jealous of the Kawaskai V-Twin. I MISS THE POWER OF THE BF!!!!!!! I don't give a rat's a$$ it handles poorly or isn't as polished a KQ. The second Kawasaki comes out with a 750 fuel injected utility (whether in BF or Prairie form) I'll be the first person to put a deposit down on one. My KQ is driving me insane with it's lack of power, I guess because I'm used to the power of a TP700 and a BF. Sure, my KQ handles awesome, has awesome ergonomics, looks great and gets overloaded with praise by the media, but the power BLOWS (anyone want to trade? LOL)

I raced my buddy on his grizzly, started out even for the first few yards, then i just pulled away. He rode my king quad for a few miles after that on the trail. He said he wished he hadn't rode it, it felt so much lighter, and was easier to handle than his grizzly. I don't have a lot of seat time on the grizzly, but the handling feels similar to me.
