Z400 mods got a few Q's
#1
Well im planning on putting a yoshimura full exhaust on my z400, and also adding a KN filter with a jet kit. For the setup i will be using is there a certain brand of jet kit i should use or that you have tried that works better then others???
also i notice a KN filter that is a stock replacement for 45 bucks and a pro flow KNsystem that uses a clamp on air filter
Am i better off getting a stock replacement and saving up anohter 60 bucks and getting 20 bucks and getting a KN air box lid??? just trying to see if its worth it to spend the extra money for a clamp setup. Also does the setup i chose seem like a good choice??
thanks ahead of time....

Usually the pipe maker will send you their recommended jet's. I've ran direct clamp-on filters on my bikes and liked them alot, as long as your ide in dry conditions, otherwise drill holes in your stock lid(or remove it) and get a replacement K&N.

Yeah, just get the K$n and take the lid of the air box. It works great, but if you want even more power with the addition of having the lid off the airbox drill some 1" holes all around the air box. You will feel a huge differance in throttle response and the engine will rev up quicker too. Especailly since you have the full yoshi. exhaust.

In my opinion it's a waste of money buying the whole jetting kit. I have piped two Suzuki's (my previous Z250, and now my 400) and just changing out the main jet was all they needed.
Good luck!

I recently did some mods on my Z. My opinion is DONT waste your money on the DynoJet Kit, Spend that money on the K&N w/ the billet clamp setup. All I really had to do is buy a mikuni #172. The only thing I used from the jet kit was the needle and I dont even think that was really needed.
Good Luck

I personally have never used a Yoshi product, but considering they built Doug Gust's motor, and they know this motor inside and out, it only makes sense to buy that exhaust.

some advice.....
a foam filter is way better than a k&n filter on every terrain except for sand. so with that in mind, if you ride only dirt and mud, then get a foam filter....if you ride in sand a lot, then get the k&n.

Foam filters work better in dusty conditions. Noss machine/pro design filter set up has a better seal.
The Yoshi pipe should come with jets(ask when you order it).
I wouldnt get a dynojet kit. The dynojet kit didnt have the jet I needed. You can buy individual jets and needle for a lot less money.
