well after doing some matience on my vinny, i looked down only to see the frame sheared off in 3 spots right infrount of the right foot well. behind the right a-arm.

man am i pissed, i dont know if getting a new one from suzuki is possible, or not?

my other option is to weld it, but the problem is going to be lineing up the frame rails back togeather. what do you suggest i do.

If it's not bent a good welder should be able to line it up and weld it. Maybe use an angle brace. You might contact suzuki and let them know, see if they can help in any way.

You've never seen his vinson in action. I think there was a video at one time.

 

well, before reading this, i decided to take matters into my own hands, i said heck there has to be a better structal design, so i started playin with the frame design in cadd, and it will show the weak points, and possible failures, well it came up with 3 spots, under the rear rack, and my 2 frame splits i had, next i added(in the program) 2 addition crossmembers, well no weak points.


now for the field aspect of it.

i went and welded up the breaks, and then gusseted the frame useing 1/4" thick angle iron, buttoned it up, and i took it for a spin, hard , jumped it wheelied it, and so forth, well i am happy to report that my new "updated design" seems as if it is better.

Vinson581 what cad program were you using that showed stress points?

 

2000i, we have a add in package that we bought/got at our work for doing the structural rigitity, of bridges, and roadways, you want to make sure the brige is STRONG!!!, lol.

Good work! I had a friend in that line of work do that very thing to my z400, before it cracked. Never had a problem racing, did see a few along the way with the shock mounts disco'ed

V581, can you post a graphic from your CADD file of the weak points. I'd be interested prior to any cracking experiences.
