Dont waste your money on cams if you dont put a piston in. You will not see a differance. I would put a 13.5:1 piston and a set of hot cams, you will have to run race gas i use 110 oct. you will need a new cdi alba has one for $99.00. You could just put a new carb.

 

sounds like a pain in the a$$ to me. Why make it run on race fuel? That stuff is expensive. I just dont get why anyone wants more speed? Its not like you get the chance to go 80 mph anyway unless you are dragging? I guess if you have the money and the time it would be fine but jeez! I cant see spending so much money just to make it a little bit faster when the bike huals *** stock.

 

Not true. I put cams in mine with the DRZ base gasket and there is a big gain in power. Same piston with slightly more compression, around 12:1 now. I can still run on premium. Without higher compressin I hear that you loose some low end, but there is still more power.

 

If the bike is so great then leave it alone. You asked i"m telling and its not a little more power its a lot. I like my z but stock with just pipe jet and air its way to slow and way to soft. I would be happy to blow the fenders off your bike from start to finish.

I was leting him know that the piston wasnt needed to get a good power gain. But a piston would give more power.
