Vinson Mods
#1
Ok this is a post that has probably been posted several times. Ive had my vinny for a few months now and havnt done any mods to it. I am going to add some 26" tires and a lift to it after the new year. I wanted to ask anyone who has done so, is it worth the $ to install a jet kit and filter, does it make any improvement, or do i also need to put on an exhaust. And if the jet kit and filter alone make a difference in performance, is that gain whatever it may be, worth the $. also has anyone had any side effects from such add ons. Ive read in the past alot of people havning problems after installing jet and filter kits in vinnies. is this so and are they fixable. i want to know the improvments made on a stock vinny with stock tires so i can weigh the need for such.

well as far as the lift
dont do it you will break cv joints and it rides rougher, that alone should make you stay away from it.
i would install a jet kit, and a uni filter in conjunction with a HMF eco or regular pipe it will make a world of difference in torque, and power all around
as long as its jetted properly i have no problems with mine, and i also have a web cam aftermarket racing cam in mine for even more punch.

I put an hmf eco on the wifes vinson with a uni filter and when I called hmf to find out what main jet to use they told me to keep it stock. It sounds better but not sure if it made any diff. in performance.

581, do you think that even the small 1.5" lift kits will affect my CV's that much. And i will be putting on 26" Mud Lites. So im not going big on my tires. Seems the small lift wouldnt affect the CV's that much?

do yourself a favor and dont lift it, listen to a guy who has been through 3cv joints, its just not worth it, you will break parts, it rides rougher, and is not what the vinson likes to do, and that is what gives it high marks, thats its handleing.

You can get the pilot jets from carbpartswarehouse.com you might not have to change the pilot if you install a foam replacement filter (uni). I put on a K&N and was about 3 turns out on the fuel screw so I need to go larger.
