Hi all...broke the left front axel at the outer CV joint. How difficult is it to change. Looks like I have to break both upper and lower ball joints and the steering tie rod end. Unbolt the axel at the hub. How do I remove the axel from the front differential? What aftermarket axels are stronger. Thanks for your help.

You Don't have to remove the upper ball joint or steering stuff.The easiest way I have found:Axle Pics Just follow steps 5 - 10. I use to have a vinson and broke 2 cv's, thats when I bought a set of gorilla axles. Really tuff, you will never bust one.

the outer cage and ***** is what you need, and he can get it for you, in about a day for 40 bucks- the parts are made by rockford who is the supplier for gorilla. give him a call, and tell him what you need.

I broke it towing and Ozark out of a creek, up the creek bank in reverse. I guess all the weight of the quad was on the front end as I backed up the creek bank pulling the Ozark. I also have new 26" Dirt Devils on the front which really dig in. When I was pulling hard and hit the gas I heard a SNAP! When we got back to the house I jacked it up and realized it was the CV joint that broke at the wheel hub.
