City Slicker Plow
#1
Has anyone seen or used the City Slicker plow that Rocky Mountain sells? I'm thinking of putting a plow on the Vinson and this one is about $60 cheaper than what the dealer will sell one for (both 60"). Also, has anyone had any frame welds crack due to using a plow? Thanks everyone!

I am not familiar with the City Slicker Plow but I can give you a couple of things to look at based on my exoerience with a Warn plow on my Eiger.
I have an issue with the plow push bars being only about an inch of clearence between the ground and the bottom of the bars. Prevents a clean scraping if your path is uneven. This might be caused due to using the winch to lift the blade and possibly increasing the bend in the push tubes. I have compared mine with new ones and have seen no diffrence.
Just the other day I had to repair a mounting point on the frame due to Warns mount design and hitting some hard snow while plowing. Warn mounts the bracket to the ATV with 2 ubolts accross the frame in the rear ( ahead of the foot pegs) and then to 2 10mm cap screws behing the front tires that holds on the plastic belly guard. I have sheared these small bolts a couple of times over the last year. This is what I broke off. Just tore the small welds out. 1 hour later back up and running. I looked online at how cycle country mounts their plow and they use the 2 (on each side) aprox 3/8 cap screws that hold the foot pegs on. Though this looks sturdier they don't recomend trail riding with the mounts installed. Looks like a good place to snag brush on the trail. If you use your winch to raise the plow, I strongly recomend replacing the cabe with a strap.

I went with the 60" Moose plow. The Push tube is also close to the ground when plowing, 1-2" clearance. This shouldn't be a problem for plowing snow. Using it for dirt might be a different story. Your right about the mounting plate, It uses two bolts (front bolts on the foot peg) and two U-bolts. I will take it off for the summer I could see where the push tube attachment points on the plate could get bent (they extend down about 2"). Also, Sticks could get jammed between the plate and the factory skid. I used Chain lube on the first couple of feet on the winch cable which seems to be working so far, but I'll keep a close eye on it for signs of wear. Thanks for the reply!
