Newbie Here....Whasssup!

Gang,
Been lerking for awhile and just wanted to say whatsup. I got 1986 suzuki 230S for $300 (busted swingarm, runs)and have been studying these forums for awhile now. The bike is stripped down to the frame for paint. Many parts stripped and painted. New bearings etc.
Few questions;
Any carb upgrades?
Does the 250 cylinder bolt-on to the 230s lower end? Should I just look for a 250 head and bore out the stock 230 cylinder?
Recommended gearing changes? Thinking of taller driven gear 44 tooth, 11 tooth in front.
Tire sizes? Best overall or just keep it stock.
What I am trying to achieve is a quick, nimple, reliable bike for woods/trail riding with an occasional rip in the dunes.
Again, great website and thanks for the info.

Welcome,
Yes, you can upgrade the carb to well, alot of different things. I have no clue about the 250S cylinder interchangibility. Gearing, 1 tooth on the drive sprocket is equal to 3 in the rear. Bigger countershaft = more top speed, less Accel, opposite for rear(I'll let you figure out what gearing to go with ). Performance parts are somewhat hard to come by, but not impossible. I had an 87 and used a Uni clamp on filter, that really helped throttle response and low end grunt, just as long as you don't ride in wet conditions. Any more questions that you can't find an answer for, just ask! Good luck

i am not positive,but im pretty sure on the "S" chain driven kick start models that the 250 top end will bolt to a 230 bottom end,but you have to use everything from the 250 cylinder,like the head and valves,cam,covers,ect
