Default vinson owners......

just brougt home a 2005 vinson (camo) saturday, like it so far, but the owners manual is crap.i would like to know if you can run synthetic oil after break in ,i only have 1/2 mile on it. also do the brakes get any better with break in time, my polaris stops on a dime, could it just be the 27" mud lights, but they sure are spongy. been lurking for a while, gathering info on all kinds of stuff and the vinson seems to suit me, but i'll surley know after i get to break it in. vinson 589, kinda lookin to you for a bit of advice here, are the 27" tires too much for the front axles. thanks in advance, i'll be back in the morning....

from day one i have run 10w30 mobil 1 synthetic, to me i like to be over protected, not under.

the breaks, ah yes they are terrible at first, give them 30 miles or so, and you will see a HUGE difference.

ok the 27" mud lites arent going to be hard on the axles at all, you will be just fine..... the thing that will cause cv axle failure is to extream of an angle for the joints, by the addition of a lift kit. steer away from those, unless you do SLOW mud riding all the TIME.

you say the tires are spongey? what psi are you running, i run anywares from 5-7, normal rideing, to air out, for really slow mudding, however i wouldnt reccomend that

v581- any more questions feel free to ask, and welcome to the forums!

I agree, the breaks will get much better in time. As for the tires, the only reason I went with 26s is because I thought the 27s may grip to much for me and wanted to maximize my backend sliding. You should have no problems with the 27s. Keep us posted on your new ride.

After breakin , use a quality synthetic oil such as Amsoil 0w-40 formula four-stroke engine oil Your engine will run cooler and shifting will be smoother.

oh Sorry...It should still make her run Smooth anyway..
Vinson581, Im still in the breakin mode with the KQ.....nothin broken ,just breakin her in..lol After she is ready and hungry, Amsoil 0w-40 it is... I still have a whole case of the stuff here that i purchased for the old Vinny.. It does keep the temp down and can be used year round.

I have to rebreak mine in too. What oil do you recommend after I'm finished? It gets in the low 90s durring the summer but it's gets well down to -60 in the winter. It hasn't gotten that cold yet but it's been -30 a few times already.
