Default King Quad Assessment...well, what do you think?

This bike has been out for a few months now. I really hope some "veteran" owners will give me their opinions. I am seriously looking at this machine ....and want to know....how it's doing with more than a few miles on them. Thanks...

Default King Quad Assessment...well, what do you think?

I've owned mine since October 26th of 2004...I also have been riding various other brand ATVs since 1983..

The KQ is quite an immpressive ATV,it has a ton of features and rides as good as any 4x4 ATV on todays market..The steering is extremely light, the quad is nimble and the brakes work excellant..Downhill engine braking in low range is also really good.

The King Quad has a little 'doggy' feel to it from 0-8mph,than once it hits 8mph,its like someone just kicked in a turbo charger on,it really accellerates HARD.Low range use will allow you to pull with the best of them and wheel speed is allways abundant..

Problems?

1.It has to go back to the dealership for the updated ECM for reverse..I have had NO problems yet with my reverse, and I plowed last week for about 15 miles.

2.My belt is starting to 'grab' abrubtly on take offs,I'll bring it in under warrenty the same time I take it in for the new ECM..

So far,I like the quad ALOT!

I myself was one of the few that did loose reverse. However if i had the chance to make a decision on purchasing it again i think i would. More then enough power for me, plus the gas mileage for a big bore bike compares to no other. Way ossum.. Very nice handling bike and everything is where it belongs for an overall great ride. Very good on the trails.. Failed me in the deep mud when my reverse went out.. However i can live with suzuki's fix. Deep mud is just way to hard on quads, and i want mine to last without a crap load of up keep.. I know others dig the mud, i did to but it was a phase. I like difficult trails more then mud myself and the KQ does that very nicely.

I take it you have made comparisions to other machines and are just doing a check with some of the pioneer owners to back up your decision.

I have about 700 m on mine. I really like the bike. Its fun and comfortable to ride. Handles easily and has lots of power. I like the lighting, seat, suspension, EFI and gas milage. The machine is designed for serious trail use and not really for the farm. It slides well, corners well and runs nicely over rough terrain. The ground clearance is high enough but not so high as to creat a high centre of gravity.

I dont like the tires and the lack of good grip and will be repalcing them eventually. I have had no problems with reverse, but have been careful. They will be offering a fix which seems fairly acceptable to the reverse issue.
I have had a problem with the EFI but it seems to be a one of a kind and easily fixed. The rear rack is a bit small, but this machine is built on the sport side of utility class, so I can live with that.
Overall I would recommend the bike and it is probably best in class at the moment.
I would also say that compared to many of the others in class it is just as reliable.
good luck with your choice.

I have owned 23 four wheelers. Mostly Honda's and some Yamaha's. I would highly recommend the King Quad. I still own 6 of them and everytime I ride I choose to ride the King. It is fun, it has plenty of power, and it handles superbly. I recommend it highly.

I've got around 200 hard workin miles on mine so far and have only a couple of complaints:1-Racks are very small. 2-Accessories are VERY hard to find for the KQ3.-The little plastic fasteners are kind of a joke in my opinion! I've hauled firewood and plowed with it for most of the 200 miles and it has ran flawlessly.Ver fun wheeler!

It's a great quad, only downside for me is the recall stuff... It is always in the back of your mind that the reverse might not be strong enough to take the stuff you might dish out if you get stuck.
I would go so far as to say it is the best all around quad ever! Just the one issue...reverse!
I've not had any problems, don't expect any, but it's still there that it could happen!
I've had a blast with this quad and really I don't think I would replace it with anything else right now..as nothing really could do all it does as well as it does them!

My concern is that after the warranty has expired..will they honor their faulty Mis-engineering design..or are we stuck with it..I had hoped to keep it a few years...
