Dealer "turns away Warranty work on Suzuki"
#1
I just wanted to let everyone know of my expierience at a local dealer here in Mora,MN.I just got back from Caswell cycle in Mora to get some warranty work done to my 2005 KQ.I was told that anyone that had not purchased a ATV, or other vehicle there, they have been turning them away!I thought at a Suzuki dealership, they would do warranty work at an authorized suzuki dealership? This is far from the 1st bad expierience I have had with Caswell Cycle, and just wanted to steer everybody clear from this bad dealer!I cannot believe that they still do business there, from what I've seen, they are so lacking in knowledge on any subject i have ever brought up to them!I have given them my last chance (and believe me I have given them ALOT of chances)!

Thats BS!! Doesn't matter where you buy your atv, as long as they are a dealer of the brand of atv you have, they SHOULD work on it! I work at our families Kawasaki Dealership and we do warranty work on all Kawi's even if they didn't get it from us. Warranty work is what brings in the money. You'd think any dealership would work on anything if they do warranty work on that particular vehicle. Yea, I'd get away from that dealership. Looks like that dealership doesn't like doin business!! Hmmm, wonder what the head guys at Suzuki would say about this??

Every authorized Suzuki dealer is required to take warranty work, it's part of the dealer agreement, and refusal to do so is grounds for Suzuki to take away the franchise.
Having said that, the Dealer is free to determine his own schedule, it's not uncommon for a Dealer to make a priority of customers who bought from them, nor is it uncommon for Dealers to put customers who bought elsewhere on the back burner. Example: "We'll do your warranty work, Mr. Bought Elsewhere to Save $, but gee, it looks like we're all booked up until Summer '08. Do you want to drop it off today or maybe take it back to where you bought it."
Sounds like a crappy way to do business, but think about it, don't you want to be treated as a priority customer at the Dealership where you bought your bike?

Good point squidward, but dont forget that if you give the other people the same great customer service with a smile then maybe they will buy from you the next time.
Most peolpe dont know who's buying from who from the consumer standpoint. The bottom line is that they are still buying from (Suzuki), and that's what keeps the bread on the table for the dealership.
I will buy something and give more (a little more) if the service is better. I have managed a Sears service dept for almost 10 years so that is a big thing for me. I have brought a lot of business to the local store due only to the fact that I treat all customers the same and it is always first come first serve. Dont get me wrong though, it would always be nice as a customer to think you are getting the premiere service.Bubba

I called Suzuki to tell them of this incident and they said they would make note of it,but the dealerships are independently owned. You would think if a dealership wanted any customers they would treat people decent in the first place! They will never get ANY business from me and hopefully,I can warn alot more people of this, and point them in the right direction.I called the dealer I bought the quad from and they could hardly beleive what I told them! They will get it fixed right away, but I already knew that because that's why I bought it from them in the 1st place. They are about 35-40 miles away, and the crappy dealer(caswell cycle in Mora) are only 5 miles away.I should have listened to all the bad things I had heard about this dealer in the past, but I thought I'd give them a chance to earn my business.I talked to a friend that was not all surprised by this as he has bought from this dump before, and he just laughed and said that he knew caswell would not do warranty work on anything that was not bought from him!So please,if you know of anybody in the area, spread the word, and don't let your friends or family get treated like i did from this lousy dealership!!Thank You!!

As soon as the warranty is up then find an independent shop to do ypur work, much better for service and they usally are hungry for the buisness.

I have had a bad experience with carter suzuki here in Las Vegas also. I called up suzuki to tell them what happened and was told the same thing-"nothing we can do to help you." With that additude I sold my suzuki's and bought yamahas instead and have never had a problem. If the manufacturer will not stand up to the dealers that tells me that they don't care about the customer, just after the money.

Why kill your pig for the weasle take'n the hens fromm the house? If the manufacturer gets enough complaints then something will happen. I am sure that every dealer has a person who will call and complain, so if they aren't jumping through hoops just yet don't be discouraged with the manufacturer. In the meanwhile word of mouth advertisement of the crappy service they gave you can do a world of good or bad if your the dealer.

What was the work you wanted performed on your machine? Also is your quad a Canadian model because that changes everything. I Know that dealers are required to performe any warrenty work even if the quad was not bought from that particular dealership. However on canadian models, the dealers are not required to work on them but they should just to be kind. Do you know the person's name that you talked to from suzuki?
