Eiger auto VS Sportsman 400

Muddy Mess,
It looks like you are shopping for a new quad. Both machines seem to be very good. I ride with a sportsman 425. The sportsman seems very underpowered for the size of the quad. My buddy is a cheap SOB and saved a few $$ by buying the 425.
To compare the two its like apples and oranges. Sportsman a great utility machine, great ride for slow conditions, very heavy, and a great 4x4 system.
The eiger is a good utility quad, a great trail riding quad, has a lot of features for the $,great power to weight, and a good 4x4 system.
In my opinion the eiger is one of the best 400 cc class quads.
The sportsman 425 is at the bottom of my list for 400 class quads.
If you want a sportsman, buy the 500, you will not have any regrets.

I tend to agree......the sportsman 400 is too heavy for that size motor, and for just a few hundred dollars more, you could get the sportsman 500HO, which is a night and day difference between the SP400 and SP500. As far as between the Eiger and SP400, I would have to go with the eiger. Although the SP400 has a 425cc motor and the Eiger has a 376cc motor, the weight of the SP400 negates any advantage. If anything, the eiger is more pipper. The SP400 will ride better due to the IRS and the ground clearance is better, thus making the SP400 a better mud machine......BUT not by much. With an awlful low power to weight ratio, the SP400 might have a disadavantage. Both are very good quads, but I would go with the Eiger here. If you were to compare to the SP500HO.....I would go with the SP500. But you also have to consider relibility, which polaris is getting much better at, but I would still lean toward Suzuki.
